Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to provide EV or disabled access parking spaces if the New Zoning Code does not require parking?
If the New Zoning Code does not require any parking (Parking Package A) or Assembly Bill 2097 (AB 2097) allows zero parking, then a project has the right to provide zero parking.
- No disabled access or EV charging (or EV-ready) parking spaces need to be provided if zero parking is provided.
- However, if the project voluntarily provides parking, then the requirements for disabled access or EV charging (or EV-ready) parking spaces in Chapter IX. (Building Regulations) of the LAMC will apply.
Important Notes:
- To find out which Parking Package applies to a particular property, see the “Automobile Parking” portion of the applied Development Standards District in your Property Report. The full list of Development Standard Districts can be found in Part 4B. (Development Standards Districts).
- To find out if a property is eligible for AB 2097, check the “AB 2097: Within a half mile of a Major Transit Stop” row under the Planning & Zoning tab on the Zoning Information and Map Access System (ZIMAS).
- Article 4 (Development Standards) of the New Zoning Code contains the general site regulations, which include regulations for parking; more specifically, Div. 4C.4. (Automobile Parking).
